Each hour is represented by two comic panels. 6 AM. In the first panel, Emily, snug in bed, blinks slowly as she wakes up. In the second panel, she turns to the side, saying "no" as she settles back down to sleep. The subtitle below the panels reads "try again later." 8 AM. The first panel opens with narration, reading "Ok, I'll accept this more human hour to wake up," to which Emily adds as she climbs out of bed, eyes still closed, "but I won't like it." In the second panel, Emily throws a handful of medication into her mouth, labeled "morning meds." The narration continues, "My depression has been rough lately, and I can already feel it fighting today. But damn it, we're gonna try." Follows is a splash panel reading "Hourly Comic day 2025." The subtitle below the panels reads "but slowly, it's the weekend after all." 9 AM. Emily stands in the panel holding her phone, dressed in a sweatshirt and jeans. She looks down at the labels that indicate as such. The narration begins, "Shower and dress like a functional person." In the second panel, Emily, midstep, responds to something unheard on the phone with "imagine if a Democrat had a SPINE." The narration continues, "Phone call with my mom that turns into us both being mad about the state of the world. I pace around the apartment while we talk." The subtitle below the panels reads "I dunno, man." 10 AM. The first panel shows a steaming mug of coffee. The narration begins, "This is the first time an hourly comic day hasn't fallen on a work day, at least that I can remember." In the second panel, Emily sits, drawing on her tablet, looking thoughtfully into the distance. A label pointing to her indicates "comic catch-up." The narration continues, "I feel like I should try to do something fun? And get out of the damn apartment." The subtitle below the panels reads "the siren song of the improv theater..." 11 AM. The first panel shows a phone, with most of the messages in a text chain obscured except for "Psst Kevin. You doin Shakes tonight?" with the eyes emoji. The narration begins, "I was just gonna be brave and go out tonight without knowing if friends would be there, but I wound up texting a friend anyway." In the second panel, Emily stands, holding her phone in one hand and a toothbrush in the other, at a bathroom sink. She looks at her phone, which goes off with an "I am!" text, to which Emily goes "yaaay." The narration continues, "Improv is good. But friend improv is better." The subtitle below the panels reads "I'm being brave! it's ok to bother my friends!" 12 PM. The first panel shows Emily outside, standing by a river, bundled up against the cold. She looks out at a duck and says "oh shit, a goldeneye!" The narration begins, "went out for a walk/to go birding." In the second panel, Emily stands with her camera as a stranger walks pass, asking her "have you seen the bald eagle around here yet?" Emily replies "not yet!" The subtitle under the panels reads "Strangers are always so nice when I'm birding." 1 PM. In the first panel, Emily sits at her laptop, shoveling dumplings into her mouth. In the first panel, Emily sits on the couch and looks at her phone, which has gone off with a text from her dad that reads "package arrived." Emily says out loud "wh, why didn't I get a text." In the second panel, a large box floats above Emily, who poses, with floating text that reads "Care package from my parents." The subtitle under the panels reads "It's mostly tea and coffee." 3 PM. The full panel is a scene from Last Train Outta Wormtown, with the worm bursting out of the sand as two little blobby figures run away from it. The narration reads, "Obligatory 'catching up on hourlies' hour. Watching a VOD of Last Train Outta Wormtown." The subtitle under the panel reads "howdy pardner!" 4 PM. In the first panel, Emily sits on the couch, pouring over her journal. She thinks, "ok I've already done that..." as the narration begins, "It's wild that it's this late in the day and I haven't done my hobonichi. So I spend some time to do that and other chores." In the second panel, Emily stands with a look of panic on her face, as next to her, several boxes pop up as if they were video game status ailments, reading things like "status: nausea" and "status: heart palpitations." The narration continues, "Every single physical anxiety symptom hits me right as I get ready to leave." The subtitle under the panels reads "Can't stress enough that I'm going somewhere I've been many times, my body is just stupid." 5 PM. In the second panel, Emily is joined at the bar by Kevin, and the two chat with unheard dialogue. The narration continues, "Kevin is here! (At least before he has to get ready for the show.)" The subtitle under the panels reads "friends" with a smiley face. 7 and 8 PM. In the first panel, mid-scene, Kevin stands in front of two other performers, Rick and Adam, with his arms spread out. Adam asks "are you gonna interrupt the ceremony or-" as Kevin shouts over him, "I'M GETTING TO IT." The narration begins, "time for the show!" In the second panel, we cut to Emily, sitting in the audience and cheering. The narration reads, "Improvised Shakespeare is always a joy but this show just completely whipped ass. A barn burner from start to finish. It's pure magic to me! (I mean, I know it's skill and hard work but also, wizard magic.)" The subtitle under the panels reads, "The best bad French accents I could ask for." 9 and 10 PM. The first panel opens with Emily and Kevin sitting back at the bar, the narration labeling the scene as "After show hangin' out." Mid-conversation, Kevin starts, "what's that one, it's not among us, but, there's suits," and Emily hops in with "Lethal Company!" to which Kevin responds with an enthusiastic "yes!" In the second panel, a segment of a completely different conversation: Kevin says "look, Episcopalians are cheating!" to which Emily replies, "They can't claim the suffering we had to dal with!" The subtitle under the panels reads, "no, you do not get context beyond this." 11 PM. In the first panel, Emily stands outside, bundled up and holding her keys. The narration begins, "Gave Kevin a ride home from iO and now also I have driven home." Emily says "i am tired but also full of light and good. friends good. comedy good." The subtitle under the panels reads, "until next year!"

It’s that time of year again! And on a weekend, for once!
