An Im-pasta-ble Task

A five panel comic, toned in brown and light brown. There are no panel borders, and it's mostly Emily standing in a formless space. In the first panel, Emily, frustrated, pounds her fist into her other hand. She begins narrating: "Ok, depression be damned, I'm gonna make an actual lunch that isn't just leftovers or veggies and hummus." In the second panel, Emily stands in front of a boiling pot of water, holding a box of pasta in her hand. "I'll just make that easy pasta dish," she continues. In the third panel, the scene zooms in as Emily tilts the box into the pot and pasta pours out uncontrollably. Emily quietly lets out a "wait-" at the torrent of pasta. In the fourth panel, the camera zooms out again and Emily stands in front of the pot, staring blankly. Labels identify the pot as having approximately 4 servings of pasta in it, and Emily as "1 me." In the fifth panel, observing the scene, Emily lets out a small "well."

A three panel, full color comic. In the first panel, Emily sits on the couch, eyes closed in exhaustion. She holds a bowl of pasta in one hand and a remote in the other as she says "Ugh, man, I'm completely spent. I'm just gonna relax and watch a stream VOD with dinner." In the second panel, a huge speech bubble spikes into the frame from the bottom of the panel, unintelligible but clearly some kind of vulgarity. Emily leans out of the way of it. In the third panel, Emily pushes the speech bubble down in frustration. "Congrats, downstairs neighbors," she begins, turning up the volume of the TV with the remote still in her hand. "Now we ALL get to learn why Solid Snake is old," she concludes, as "gnggh-Otacon-" dialogue drifts in from the off-screen TV.

The One About Sports

A full color, two panel comic. In the first panel, Emily walks into the living room, addressing the viewer and holding a bowl of popcorn. She's wearing a Cleveland Cavs hoodie. "I'm just not really a sports person, ya know," she says. "Can't say I've ever even watched a game of anything start to finish. I'm really only a Cleveland fan cause I'm from there." In the second panel, she's sitting on the couch, looking over her shoulder at the viewer. The TV and TV stand is visible in the background; there's a grid-like video on the TV. She says, "Now if you'll excuse me, I need to watch this 7 hour sports documentary about a team I don't know. And yes, I will cry."
